Book Yourself Solid 2-Day Seminar in Boston, April 4th and 5th, 2008Posted by: Michael Port
|
My last in-person 2-day seminar was so meaningful and effective that I'm doing it again. Except this time its for Book Yourself Solid!
For 4 years, and to thousands of people, I've been teaching the Book Yourself Solid client generating system online and in tele-seminar format with a 93% success rate.
Now, based on popular demand, for the first time ever, I'm holding a 2-day in-person comprehensive training in Boston, MA on Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th, 2008. (It costs much, much less than the online course.) I'm even paying for your hotel rooms for two nights at the exclusive Renaissance Waterfront Hotel. (Mini bar is on you though.)
Learn more (about the seminar, not the mini-bar) at:
https://www.regonline.com/bookedsolid_boston
I am only taking a small group of people because the space I've reserved is small. But if you're one of the people in that room with me for two days you'll be thinking and acting very big when you return to you business.
* You should also know that I'll only be doing one online Book Yourself Solid course in 2008 (date TBD) so if you want to get booked solid this is your chance. Plus, you can now get everything you need in just two days. You want results fast? This is the way. That's why I'm changing how I work with you. From online and over the phone to live and in-person,
If you have questions email me directly at michael (at) michaelport.com or call 877-279-5220. Spots won't last long.

Good people...Posted by: Michael Port

I'm a lucky guy. I have the best clients in the world. Here is a picture of just a few of them. Usually I only get to hear my clients over the phone. But sometimes I get to meet them face to face at a live event. This one was called The Inspiring Speaker Workshop. I was one of the speakers; teaching them how to get booked solid. We had just finished stuffing our faces at a restaurant that proudly stated, on their front door no less, that it was not a good place to eat while on a diet.
Spending this special time with my clients reminds me what my work is actually all about: them.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be of service to you.

Everybody wins...Posted by: Michael Port

Got this email from a participant in my Book Yourself Solid 15-Week Learning Program. Sure, it's a great testimonial but I'm posting it for you because it's a great lesson on how to begin and nurture a sales cycle that builds trust over time.
Hi Michael,
Here is a success story in regards to engaging clients in your Book Yourself Solid sales cycle:
Four times a year I am invited by two Real Estate Agents to be the expert speaker on mortgages in their "First Home Buyer" Seminars. An attorney speaks first, then me, then the Realtors. They do not ask me to financially participate in the seminar, and as a result, I have to follow their "rules," so to speak. One of these "rules" was that they would not typically share the names and contact information of the attendees with me for whatever reason. That said, I am an inspiring speaker and usually heard from at least 50% of the participants in the seminar who were ready to buy at that point in time. I was always bothered by the fact that I knew those that I did not hear from were just not ready at that time, but I knew they would be in the future and I had no way to "keep in touch."
As a result of this rule, it was more difficult for me to engage the attendees in my sales cycle. So, for last night's seminar, in my handouts to the participants, I included a simple survey, asking their opinions, how was the room, etc. I also asked for their contact information. In exchange for completing the survey, I promised to send them a white paper report titled, "Top Ten Mistakes to Avoid When Buying Your First Home." I never mentioned this survey in my opening, I just put it in with the other materials on building your credit, how closing costs work, etc. There were 14 people in the room, or 8 buying "units" (couples).
Can you guess how many surveys I got back? 8! 100%!
Can you guess how many names, addresses, and phone numbers I got? 8! 100%!
Can you guess how many email addresses I got? 8! 100%!
Can you guess how many gave me permission to contact them by email? 8! 100%!
Can you guess how many gave me permission to include them in my newsletter list? 8! 100%!The best part of the whole evening was when the Realtors saw all the participants coming up to me after the seminar, handing me their surveys. Naturally, they were curious and they wanted to know what I had done. I sat them down, briefly explained the Book Yourself Solid Sales Cycle concept to them, and they now want me to help design a sales cycle for them to keep engaged with those participants who attend the seminar, but are not yet ready to buy at this moment in time.
A win for me, a win for the Realtors, and most of all, a win for the clients who attended. I love it when everybody wins.
Thank you for bringing Book Yourself Solid to me and world!
Sincerely,
Brent Burns

People express their values through what they buyPosted by: Michael Port
|
This Wednesday I gave a speech on the Book Yourself Solid system to the International Furnishings and Design Association (a talented and very nice group of people). On display, in the space were I gave my speech, were paintings by various artists that are represented by O.D.E., a firm that markets and sells works of art.
I saw this painting and had to have it. I bought it on the spot. It's called Tropic Racer. (This electronic image doesn't do it justice.)
I bought it because it "speaks" to me. I see myself in this painting. Or at least a small part of myself. But it is also the perfect size and has the ideal color palet for the space above my fireplace. A space that I've been trying to fill for sometime.
So, clearly, I bought this painting, which wasn't cheap, by the way, to express some of my values... but the timing was also perfect, it fit a need that I have right now. Buying this "product" gives me the opportunity to display a part of my personality (my values) and it fits I need that I have based on a current situation (timing). Consider the last ten sales you made... it's likely that those sales where made to people for whom your product or service expressed a value and the time was right for them to express that value.
You'll make more sales and do your best work when timing and value are in sync. Can you predict when this will occur for a potential customer? Probably not. But you can create the circumstances that will give you the opportunity to be in the right place at the right time when values + timing + your product or service = a meaningful and worthwhile sale. How do you do that? By creating, sustaining and nurturing a sales cycle that builds trust over time. For more on this, read chapter 6 in Book Yourself Solid.

National Speakers Association annual conferencePosted by: Michael Port
|
When I'm home I want to travel. When I travel I want to be home. I'm just like that. Fortunately, I get the opportunity to speak to inspired and friendly people all over the country. Just returned from a tour through San Diego and Boston, speaking at the National Speakers Association's annual conference and Money Matters annual conference, respectively. Money Matters was at the Four Seasons--always a treat. NSA event was huge and inspiring. Here's a nice picture of Elizabeth Marshall (on the left) and Lorri Morgan-Ferrero (on the right) at NSA. Yours truly is the lucky guy in the middle. You can always tell whether a picture of me is taken before or after I speak. If it's before, my collar is buttoned. It's it's after, it's unbuttoned.
One big takeaway about this week of travel. Marketing may be about how you make people feel. Hopefully you're in a business where you make people feel important. Staying at the Hilton, although very nice, didn't make me feel important. Staying at the Four Seasons did. Was it just because the Four Season is fancier? No, in fact, the Hilton I stayed at was pretty hight-end, hip and trendy. It was because every single person working at the Four Seasons cares about how you feel and bends over backwards to show it. At the Hilton they give lip-service to good service but it's nothing like the Four Seasons. Is it that hard to be nice? I don't think so. Is the staff at the Four Seasons doing backflips. Not really. Although if you asked them to they probably would. And you know what? I bet the staff at the Four Seasons enjoy their jobs more. Just a guess.
